NuPECC statement on the aggression of Russian Federation against Ukraine

The Nuclear Physics European Collaboration Committee (NuPECC) firmly condemns the aggression of Russian Federation against Ukraine and the breach of international law by the Russian government. We express our deep solidarity with the whole of the Ukrainian population and scholars of all disciplines, especially the Ukrainian nuclear physics community. Our Committee, profoundly committed to the principles of fundamental science research and peaceful applications of nuclear physics, finds it unacceptable that any country threatens to deploy nuclear weapons in any conflict.
The Committee declares its encouragement and support of all Russian scientists expressing their opposition to the war in Ukraine. In view of the current situation, NuPECC has decided to suspend the membership in the committee of the Joint Institute of Nuclear Research in Dubna. Each NuPECC member should follow the instructions issued by ministries and research organisations of the member country/organisation in response to the aggression of Russian Federation against Ukraine. NuPECC has always strived to play an important role in bringing nuclear physicists together across political divides and will continue to embrace and promote scientific collaboration as a driver for peace in Europe.
