The objective of PANS is to co-ordinate and stimulate a European wide network for communicating to the general public easily accessible information on achievements, techniques and diverse applications of nuclear physics.

It is motivated by the fact that not only is research on atomic particles and nuclei fundamental to understanding the universe in which we live but also that nuclear science is being applied to the benefit of society.
