Matrix elements
The calculation of the nuclear matrix elements for all three modes is quite
elaborate. Until recently the most popular method was quasi random phase
approximation (QRPA). It is computationally simple. Although crudely, it
is believed to include all relevant features of the nuclear structure.
Now, in addition, realistic shell model calculations have been performed
for a few nuclei. In principle they should describe the nucleus in more
details.
